Wild Duck Rescue
This wild duck is another victim of careless fishing, she was observed with a fishing hook and line through her foot, thankfully a member of the public waded in to the lake to rescue her and bring to us.She was understandably distressed, we needed to get the barbed hook out of her food, treat her then leave her to destress and rest. It took some effort but eventually the hook and fishing line were removed from her. The hook though has caused a wound to her foot and beak where she has been tugging away to free herself.The outlook for her is favorable, once she’s finished a course of antibiotics and painkillers we hope she’ll be released back into the wild.
