Next Hen Rescue Postponed.

batteryAs many of you know our next ex-battery hen rescue was due to take place on 14th/15th Nov but unfortunately due to the powers that be (supermarkets!!!) this has been postponed until after Christmas. Due to consumer demand of cheap food over Christmas these hens will have to spend Christmas in cages. Fortunately though, we are assured the rescue will happen after Christmas.  The coverage of our recent hen rescue by itv central news meant that we have been inundated with hen homes but if your name is on our list then we will contact you when when we can confirm a rescue date.  Remember that battery hens don’t have a choice but you do! Look out for hidden battery eggs in food too……or better still give up eggs, especially over Christmas when hens naturally want to take a break from laying eggs as the days get shorter. Battery hens are given artificial light during the winter to optimise their egg laying.  No wonder they look so tired when they come into our rescue centre!
