Polly the Rescue Ewe
Meet Polly, the new addition to our herd of sheep.
Polly came to us in a state, she had been attacked, probably by a dog, with wounds to her hind and a very deep infected wound to her neck. In addition she wasn’t in fantastic shape and riddled with scabies, a parasitic mite that lives in the wool and feeds off the sheep.
Her wounds have been treated and the neck wound stitched up and cleaned every day, along with antibiotics, pain relief and treatment for her scabies. The parasites have led to her wool falling out, so she has a deep bed of straw and a warm heat lamp which she loves.
Polly needed isolation as the scabies can pass to our other animals, now clear and recovering, today is her first time out of isolation to stretch her little legs.
