This week we have rescue 130 commercial barn hens going for slaughter. they are approximately 18 months old and came from a farm in Staffordshire. We now need homes for them to make space for another rescue.
If you can offer any a permanent home to be kept as pets, please email us with details of how many hens you can offer a home and pictures of your set up, we need to be happy that its fox proof and large enough.
Unfortunately Betty’s life long pal Belinda died very suddenly at the vets in July. We presume that she had a heart attack. It was very sudden and came as a great shock. Both these goats were very overweight when they came to us and we are still battling with Bettys weight. Betty needs a friend…
Today we rescued some ex-barn hens, we took on 250, unfortunately the remaining 20,000 odd will go for slaughter. These girls came all the way from Norfolk and are ready to be re-homed. Over the weekend we dropped off Magic one of our Dartmoor ponies to his beautiful new home. He is now living as a companion pony with a lovely mare called ‘Cariad’. She wasn’t too pleased to be sharing her field at first but we are sure they’ll both be friends soon. Lucky little Magic.
