M62 Lorry Crash – Rescued chickens

You may have heard TV and Radio News Reports about a lorry crash on the M62 as it was travelling to the slaughterhouse, with 7,000 hens on-board.

Unfortunately over 1,000 hens were killed in the crash and many more strewn across the carriageway. Whilst a few hundred were rescued, many thousands continued with their horrific journey to the slaughterhouse.

10 very poorly hens have have been transported to us for extra care, they are very traumatised, most have cage trauma and can’t stand yet, one is in a sling with a double break to her leg.

Fingers crossed we can rehabilitate these poor girls and find them life-long homes when they are well enough.
