Today we received the news that we have been waiting for. Brinsley Animal Rescue which became a Charity in January 2009, became a Registered Charity.
This effectively means that we have met all of the stringent criteria of The Charity Commission, the Government Regulator who ensures that Charities comply with Charity laws and Regulations.

This week we have taken on a further 120 ex-battery hens that would otherwise be slaughtered. The farm in Norfolk where we fetched them from, was emptying their sheds, replacing 20,000 birds with young hens, to keep the egg yield high. This guy has a broken wing, he will have to be suspended in a harness for a couple of weeks in a hospital cage. Then we can remove the bandage supporting his wing, he should then be fit enough to be moved to an aviary to start the rehabilitation process before final release. Update 20 September…
