We admitted this cygnet in the week, they were quite weak and found grounded in a housing estate. Its believed they’d crash-landed. Thankfully an examination hasn’t revelled any injuries and they are eating and drinking as well as hissing at us!! We are confident they’ll be released in the coming days.
This week we have taken on a further 120 ex-battery hens that would otherwise be slaughtered. The farm in Norfolk where we fetched them from, was emptying their sheds, replacing 20,000 birds with young hens, to keep the egg yield high. Today we have rescued 150 caged hens from a caged farm in Lincs. This is a fraction of the thousands going to slaughter from the farm, but these lucky ladies are safe, recovering and now we want life-long homes for them. Thankfully these girls are safe now, and have now all found homes.
