Barn Owl

This young Barn Owl came in a few weeks ago as a chick, he had come out of the nest. This can occur by accident, it can be on purpose by the mother. This all sounds awful, but sometimes nature is cruel to be clever, the mother can throw a weak chick out of the nest so she can focus her efforts on a stronger sibling. This increases the chances of survival.

This young Barn Owl came in quite thin, he’s now very strong and a bit of a handful, just how we want them to be.

He’s almost ready to go into an aviary to prepare him for eventual release.
