The Great Pig Chase!

This week we have taken on yet another unwanted pig. She came with the name Charlotte but as we already have a pony with the same name we have renamed her Penny. Yesterday we set about introducing her to Rocky our Kune Kune pig thinking that he might like a friend.  Unfortunately he didn’t take too kindly to sharing his house and seemed quite upset by this potential new friend.  

After a few hours together Penny was nowhere to be seen, she had given us the slip, crossed over the ditch and was on her way to Jacksdale (the next village). I ran after her but soon lost her in the long grass in neighbouring fields. I had to ring for assistance from people in the village and also rang the police as Penny was heading towards the main road.

After nearly 3 long hours of searching and momentary glimpses of the escapee we ended up herding her into a stable at a nearby farm.

The whole saga didn’t end there as we then had to get a dog crate from our rescue centre and wheel her back on a trolley (see photo)!!

Update – Penny is now safely back. We have put her in a secure, fenced area in the hope that she never escapes again!
