Battery Hen Rescue

This week we have taken on a further 120 ex-battery hens that would otherwise be slaughtered. The farm in Norfolk where we fetched them from, was emptying their sheds, replacing 20,000 birds with young hens, to keep the egg yield high.

We couldn’t rescue all 20,000 hens that are probably only around 18 months old, but we have taken on 120, along with other rescue centres. Over the next few weeks we’ll be getting these hens on to their new homes.

Our waiting list is not full, so if you want some hens and have a large, fox prof run then contact us.

Can you offer them the…

    Kitten Rescue

Update on Greta from her operation on Friday. She’s taken it all in her stride and not bothered one bit! Her fosterer has tried to take her out of the litter so that the stitches wouldn’t get ripped out during their rough play but little Greta wanted to be with her siblings so much that…

This week calls have included providing advice to vets, the fire brigade and the Police on several occasions. We receive many…
