Tawny Owl Rescue

Wildlife is arriving think and fast, in the past few days we’ve had several hedgehogs, several pigeons, a fox cub, two wild rabbits and two tawny owls. This photo is one of the Tawny Owls who arrived yesterday after being hit by a car, we were sure he had a broken left wing which is often fatal for birds of prey. We had his wing X-ray’d today to be sure, as they have to hunt for their food, they have to be perfect flyers before we can release. This image shows that we were correct, thankfully though its a clean break to a minor bone. We are hopefully with anti-inflammatory painkillers and lots of rest, the wing bone will knit back together correctly.

    Colin Moves On

This weekend we took Colin to his new, life-long home. We originally took in Colin in August this year, he was reported to have been a stray. He wasn’t castrated, so we needed to sort that out, to get him ready for rehoming. Male pigs need to be castrated, this makes them less boisterous but…

Meet Dexter our retired Ram. This old boy had “served his purpose” as a breeding Ram and was no longer required, he was due to be killed. Dexter initially went to another rescue before coming to us a few weeks ago. He is very large and quite a boisterous old boy, but he does have…
