Thanks to everyone who came to the open day at Lawrence Veterinary Centre and to everyone who baked cakes and bought them too! Fortunately the rain held off and it was a fabulous day. We managed to raise a brilliant £184.55.

These two guys were taking in by us in 2010 and re-homed, unfortunately things didn’t work out and today their back with us. These two castrated pygmy goats are very friendly and need to be re-homed together. They need a field or large garden, with secure fencing and somewhere to sleep and escape from the sun, wind and rain.

In the past couple of weeks we have rescued another 175 battery hens, this includes 100 from Wales, in collaboration with the British Hen Welfare Trust. This little chap came to us a week ago, he was found on someones lawn possibly after falling out of his nest. We are now hand rearing him and he’s putting on weight and growing fast. He did spend much of his day sleeping or feeding, but now starting to get active.
Recently we took a call to take in this amazingly affectionate Kune Kune pig, who we now call Kiwi, when her partner had to be ethanised. Initially we had to say no, as we have to all too often, we can only take animals in when people rehomed the one we have and create space….
In September we were called to a house where a mother hedgehog had made a nest and given birth to 4 hoglets. Whilst cleaning his car, a guy opened his garage door, in those few seconds mum crawled in and made a nest in a spare wheel cover. Two days later she was accidentally disturbed…
