Please contact us about any guinea pig(s) that your interested in, we’ll happily provide you with any further information and support. We advise that if you are interested, that you follow up with an appointment to meet them.
If you decide that you can offer them a life-long home, you can reserve until you or the guinea pig(s) are ready, subject to our adoption policy, therefore;
Adoption Process
- Minimum Adoption donation is £40 per guinea pig.
- As guinea pigs are highly social creatures that live in colonies naturally in the wild, as pets they need to be in pairs or groups, we will only rehome in groups or pairs, only singles when they are to be bonded with another guinea pig.
- Accommodation and runs need to meet our minimum standard.
- We will not rehomed if they are to be living with any other pets such as a rabbit.
- Once reserved and you are ready to adopt, you will be required to sign our adoption agreement and pay the minimum adoption donation.
- Adoptees need to be minimum 18, or adopted by a parent or guardian.
- If your adopted guinea pig(s) need bonding with ones already in your care, we will offer advice and encourage you to bond, we can though subject to space, bond them for you.
Accommodation Requirements
We use the RSPCA’s minimum standards. for two guinea pigs this is a minimum cage size of 120cm x 60cm x 45cm.
Guinea Pigs originate from a warm climate, they have a single layer of hair and so should not be kept outdoors during our colder months, they need an indoor heated space. Sheds and garages are not acceptable.
It is important to ensure your guinea pigs have a separate area to retreat to when they require quiet time, to rest or hide.
Ensure that your cage is placed in a location free of draughts and direct sunlight.
Include runs and tunnels for them to hide and play in
If you decide to keep your guinea pigs in a hutch outside during the warmer months, please ensure it is raised and kept off the ground and that the cage / run are predator proof.
Please ensure that your guinea pigs have a safe and secure space for roaming as part of their daily routine
Once a day, remember to remove any soiled bedding and give the cage/hutch a thorough clean twice a week.
